Hidden or missing part — cannot complete an order

Use this as a troubleshooting checklist, not as a guaranteed official fix. First rotate the device and inspect behind it and along the workbench edge. Compare the Notebook part list with the device and inventory, check the Sonic Bath, then restore a copied protected save. If the part is still absent, record the build, device, order, missing part and a screenshot before reporting it.

Current build and patch-note status

The current build is hotfix 1.0.015. Patch 1.0.013r remains the latest full announced patch and is the historical source for five save slots and the detailed story, Sonic Bath, Mac, marketplace, competition, inventory, controller, font, memory, and soldering fixes. The next confirmed content update is 2026-09-14.

Why is the shop dirty, smelly, or stuck at three stars?

Separate three different causes before buying decorations or repeating repairs.

Hotfix 1.0.015: update before troubleshooting story progress

The developer-released 1.0.015 hotfix is the current build. It targets the story blocker that can appear after repairing the rock musician's guitar; a three-star result can be part of the same failure state. The latest full announced patch remains 1.0.013r. A small number of saves that were already stuck before 1.0.013 may not recover automatically, so keep the original slot and test from a copy.

Rock-musician guitar or three-star result: current recovery order

First confirm 1.0.015, then load a protected copy from before the guitar hand-in and complete the repair once. If the story advances, keep playing from that copy. If an old save remains stuck, do not delete it or repeat random shop actions; record the build, order, rating, last objective, and save age for a report.

Fixed in 1.0.013r versus reports still being watched

The left column is taken from the official patch scope. The right column contains player reports seen after updating; those are not confirmed universal defects.

07

Use the symptom decision path

Confirm the build, protect the save, reproduce once, and isolate whether the block is an order state, missing part, tool mode, story branch, platform issue, or current-build defect. Do not repeat destructive steps on the only save.

08

What to include in a useful report

State platform, patch, language, controller, CPU/GPU, resolution, order, device, part and exact action. Add a screenshot or short video and, when requested by the developer, a protected save and log. Say whether a clean reload reproduces it.

09

Historical patches are context, not the current answer

Version 1.0.009r fixed launch-period firmware, achievement, competition, ultrawide and Sonic Bath problems. Version 1.0.010r addressed long saves, saving crashes, missing screws and Robby's wires. Version 1.0.011r addressed painting palettes, Steam Deck, achievements and other follow-ups. Keep those notes for old saves, but begin current troubleshooting at hotfix 1.0.015.

10

Where to verify an answer

Use official Steam announcements for patch status, Steam Technical Support for reproducible reports, Steam Guides for route evidence, and the current in-game Notebook for device parts. A community answer becomes stronger when it names the build and shows the exact state.

11

Fast answers to the most common current symptoms

Airbrush not spraying or paint stuck at 0%: confirm that the customer requested painting, buy the exact named palette, select that palette rather than Freestyle, expose the correct surface, and test once after reloading. Treat a failure that remains on hotfix 1.0.015 as a player-reported issue, not an officially confirmed universal bug. Story stopped: read every active To-Do and email, inspect bought licenses and unfinished main-quest orders, then retry from a protected slot. Soldering lines missing: update first, expose the intended board, confirm the soldering tool and task, and compare the current official fix before using an old workaround. Sonic Bath item missing: stop advancing the day, check the bath, bench, inventory and parts box, then reload the pre-cleaning save if necessary. Achievement did not unlock: verify the exact trigger and mutually exclusive invitation branch, keep Steam online, and replay from the closest checkpoint. Performance or controller trouble: test without overlays, record frame cap, resolution, controller connection and hardware, then change one setting at a time. These checks are deliberately conservative: they preserve evidence and avoid turning a recoverable state into a damaged only save.

ReStory on Steam Deck — Verified Status, Controls & Troubleshooting

Yes. Valve’s August 24 compatibility test and live report currently return category 3 (Verified) for ReStory. It passes built-in controller access, matching Deck glyphs, readable interface text and default-performance checks. The same record displays one warning: an external controller is not supported as the primary player. This is the current result; the Playable result recorded near launch is historical.

13

Mac installs 0 KB or no files

If Steam never downloads ReStory on macOS, use the Mac launch error guide for the developer-recommended verify, restart, reinstall, and report sequence. Do not delete saves or disable macOS security for an installation that has not delivered game files.
