Melancholy has more prerequisites than the other invitation achievements. It uses Haruhi's route, the Tourist repairs, a specific trust response, and an exclusive invitation. Steam confirms the achievements and their public descriptions, but not one complete invitation script. The body of a current community guide warns against another guest on the Baketsu route, while a later player comment on that same guide reports Haruhi and Baketsu together and keeps Kaito separate. Neither record is a controlled current-build test.
Quick unlock answer
Steam confirms the achievements and their public descriptions, but not one complete invitation script. The body of a current community guide warns against another guest on the Baketsu route, while a later player comment on that same guide reports Haruhi and Baketsu together and keeps Kaito separate. Neither record is a controlled current-build test. Keep an untouched pre-invitation save and test clean branches to reduce risk, but do not present that safety plan as an official unique trigger or proof that Haruhi and Baketsu can never coexist.

Haruhi discusses the tournament and spare parts. Use the route checklist for the later invitation decision.
Invitation-route evidence conflicts: use separate saves as a conservative test
Steam confirms the achievements and their public descriptions, but not one complete invitation script. The body of a current community guide warns against another guest on the Baketsu route, while a later player comment on that same guide reports Haruhi and Baketsu together and keeps Kaito separate. Neither record is a controlled current-build test. Keep an untouched pre-invitation save and test clean branches to reduce risk, but do not present that safety plan as an official unique trigger or proof that Haruhi and Baketsu can never coexist.
Known steps versus conditions still needing verification
The guide can show a safe route without claiming every reported action is mandatory.
| Status | Route detail |
|---|---|
| Recorded | Complete Haruhi’s available story and preserve the invitation branch |
| Recorded | For the cleanest test, use an untouched pre-invitation save; Haruhi/Baketsu coexistence remains disputed |
| Reported / not isolated | Tourist repairs and trust-dialogue wording |
| Unknown | Any additional hidden timing or follow-up state |
Why two checkpoints matter
The route contains both an earlier dialogue condition and the late invitation. A save made only at the final invitation cannot repair the wrong trust answer. Keep Checkpoint A before the Tourist/Haruhi decision sequence and Checkpoint B after her story is complete but before anyone is invited.
Melancholy checklist
Verify each requirement in order.
- Complete the relevant Tourist repairs
- Choose the response telling Haruhi not to trust anyone else
- Finish the remaining Haruhi story
- Save before the invitation
- For the cleanest test, use an untouched pre-invitation save; Haruhi/Baketsu coexistence remains disputed
- For the cleanest test, use an untouched pre-invitation save; Haruhi/Baketsu coexistence remains disputed
- Continue until Melancholy unlocks
Common route failures
Inviting Haruhi without the earlier trust response, skipping unfinished Tourist work, or inviting another character can leave the achievement locked. The clue “I don't need no normal people!” does not describe a shop rating, device collection, or decoration requirement. It points to Haruhi's story outcome.
If it does not unlock
Return first to the pre-invitation checkpoint and verify Haruhi's story is truly complete. If the result remains locked, use the earlier checkpoint and repeat the Tourist repair and trust dialogue. Let every follow-up finish, keep Steam online, and check the achievement list before starting a new campaign.
Separate it from Ghost and Ronin
Ghost in the Frame, Ronin, and Melancholy are designed as separate invitation outcomes. Use one common late-story save only when all earlier Haruhi conditions are already correct; otherwise Melancholy needs its own earlier branch. Do not invite all three in sequence.
Use the complete achievement hub
Return to All 50 ReStory Achievements to find another missing achievement, plan a protected route, or continue the browser-only manual checklist.
Media and evidence boundary
The existing ordinary conversation image does not show the invitation choice or unlock result and is not evidence for the critical trigger. A replacement needs the pre-invitation checkpoint, visible choice, and later result from the same recorded build. No VideoObject is added without a real playable asset.

Official information, observable release behavior, and community reports are deliberately separated. A community report is not presented as a universal fix until it can be reproduced or supported by current patch notes.
