If a competition reset after an incorrect assembly order removes the lower-left sixth motherboard-screw guide, one September 27 player reports closing only the assembly view with Escape or its X button and reopening it once. Protect a save copy first. ReStory Helper has not reproduced this build-unknown workaround, and it does not apply automatically to every XI-box screw, drive or save problem.

Quick answer: normal repair or competition?
Use the mode and symptom, not the calendar date, to choose a branch. A normal customer repair with a floating or missing screw is not the same state as a timed competition reset that removes the lower-left sixth motherboard-screw guide, or a competition report where the DVD drive or HDD will not place. Preserve the save before retrying and change one variable at a time.
| Mode | Symptom | Evidence | Report date | Checked / build | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal repair | Floating screw or count mismatch | Player reports; not universal | Aug 26 / Sep 9 | Sep 22 · 1.0.015 | Check Notebook, inventory and every live placement ghost |
| Competition | Sixth lower-left motherboard-screw guide disappears after an incorrect-order reset | One player report; workaround not reproduced here | Sep 27 | Sep 28 · build unknown | Protect a copy, close only the assembly view, reopen it once and check the same guide |
| Competition | DVD or HDD will not place | Multiple player reports; conflicting workarounds | Aug 28 / Sep 20 | Sep 22 · 1.0.015 | Exit without forcing, protect the save, then retry once |
| Normal repair | Cleaning or soldering will not complete | Scenario-specific report and developer triage | Release window | Sep 22 · build-sensitive | Separate the cleaning and solder objectives before reporting |
| Normal repair | Part total or two Front Panels look wrong | Community release-build records | Aug 20 | Sep 22 · current Notebook wins | Count both Front Panels and follow the live job card |
Normal repair: floating screw, missing part or count mismatch
Stop before hand-in. Compare the live Notebook, task counter, inventory, parts store and every placement ghost. The recorded 19 screws cover the fourteen-part rebuild; they are not nineteen case screws. A floating screw is a player-reported symptom, not proof that every XI-box save is damaged.
- Protect the save before advancing the day
- Count both distinct Front Panel pieces
- Record the exact layer and remaining objective
- Submit save and log evidence when it reproduces
Competition: lower-left screw, DVD or HDD — Assembly Bug After 1.0.015
Player reported / Watching: September 9 and September 20 reports describe competition-only placement failures, and their suggested retries conflict, so no universal workaround is established. A separate September 27 player report describes one narrow state: after the competition assembly is performed in the wrong order and resets, the lower-left sixth motherboard-screw guide no longer appears. With the rear shell and motherboard in place, the reported retry is to press Escape or the on-screen close button to leave only the assembly view, then reopen that view and check whether the guide returns before continuing. This has not been reproduced by ReStory Helper, the report gives no build number, and it is not a confirmed repair for every floating screw, missing drive or damaged save. Closing the assembly view is not the same as abandoning the competition, restarting the whole game or paying another entry fee.
- Protect a separate save copy before testing
- Use this only for the same competition reset and missing sixth motherboard-screw guide
- Close only the assembly view once, then reopen it
- Check whether the same guide returns before placing more parts
- Record build, save state and the result whether it succeeds or fails
Cleaning or soldering objective will not complete
Treat cleaning and soldering as separate objectives. Expose the target board, confirm the job card still requests that action, and finish visible screws before assuming a device-wide defect. The older developer-triaged report was scenario-specific; preserve the save and report the exact remaining percentage, task text and build.
XI-box at a glance
Release-window community records list 14 pieces, 19 screws, an XI-box license and hacking support. The ¥90,000 sale observation is historical and predates the 1.0.013r marketplace rebalance; it is not a current value or profit promise. The live Notebook, counter and current shop prices override this record.
Parts, screws, and rebuild order
This table preserves one community-recorded release-build layer sequence. It is an orientation map, not a universal instruction that every build or mode must use one fixed direction. The two Front Panels are distinct pieces.

| 1 | Back Panel | 0 | ¥10,930 |

How to use the order safely
Document your own teardown and keep screws grouped by layer. During rebuild, follow the current placement ghosts and reverse your own documented teardown where it agrees with the game. If this historical map conflicts with the live Notebook or a competition state, follow the game and record the mismatch.
Parts cost and sale-value boundary
The recorded component values and historical sale observation both total ¥90,000. That coincidence is not guaranteed profit: rewards, reusable parts, donor stock, material sources and the 1.0.013r rebalance change the result. Recheck every current price in game.
Tourist order and competition
A release-window database records a stage-five Tourist order and historical competition figures. Keep them as dated context only; they do not prove the current reward, price or competition behavior. Confirm the live order, counter and build.
Reported missing-part and duplication issue
A focused Steam technical report describes an XI-box order duplicating the device and losing screws or parts after advancing the day. A developer acknowledged it as a new issue and requested save/log evidence. This is a player report, not proof that every XI-box is broken. Preserve a save before hand-in and avoid advancing the day with an incomplete XI-box if the symptom has already appeared.
Verification checklist
Before returning the device, confirm the fourteen named pieces, all nineteen recorded screws, cable seating, both Front Panels, and the remaining task counter. If anything is missing, stop before hand-in and compare the current Notebook, inventory, workbench and parts store.

XI-box FAQ
Which license is needed? Current records list XI-box. Is 19 the case-screw count? It is the total recorded across the fourteen-part rebuild, not just the outer shell. Is the order official? No; it is cross-checked community data from release-window records, so the current in-game Notebook wins if it differs.
